One of the biggest advantages of owning a SteelMaster building is the fact that it can be customized to fit your size requirements.
Dave Reavis, his two brothers and a few dedicated friends worked tirelessly to build his dream Quonset Hut distillery in Virginia. He purchased a 35’ by 40’ S-Model building and worked with LEED Certified Building Specialist William Swafford, who helped him customize the building to accommodate the business.
“SteelMaster was great to work with,” Dave said. “They did a great job getting us the building and they were there when I needed the technical support to do the modifications to make a distillery out of a steel building.”
The 1,400 square foot distillery gives Dave and his crew plenty of room to produce Silk Jacket, a Naval strength compound gin; Kablam, unaged corn whiskey and George Straight Rye Whiskey.
Microbreweries and production breweries often need additional ceiling height to accommodate larger vessels. The beam-free interior of a metal Quonset hut will give you 100 percent useable space to store brewing and distilling equipment. Plus, the unobstructed space gives you the ability to design your own brewery floor plan to make your operation the most efficient.
Brewery Emperial combined the steel arches with the cinder blocks to create a cool, urban atmosphere at their Kansas City location. The prefabricated steel arches house the brewhouse cellar and fermentation tanks on the north side of the business. On the south side, there’s an open-air biergarten that is enclosed by metal shipping containers.
Starting your own brewery or distillery can already be tough on your bank account. SteelMaster offers quality structures that cost significantly less than a straight wall building due to the ease of construction.
When your Quonset hut kit arrives, you’ll be able to put it together with the help of a small crew depending on the size of the building. Our prefabricated arches are pre-punched and pre-drilled at our factory and only require one size nut and bolt. Not only does this cut down on the time it takes to assemble the building, but it also decreases labor costs.
It took Dave and his team just a few days to erect the arches. They opted to design their own wooden endwalls, which they painted bright red to contrast with the bright steel arches.
Another benefit of owning a SteelMaster Quonset hut is low maintenance costs. Our arches are coated with Galvalume Plus, which helps to prevent rusting and basic wear and tear on the building. This will significantly decrease maintenance costs as long as you own the building. Each steel panel is corrugated, adding even more strength to the entire structure.
