steel qounset style buildings used for navy/military

Military Buildings For Storage, Barracks, Hangars & More

The history of the Quonset Hut has direct ties to the military. The buildings became popular in 1941 during World War II when the Navy needed an all-purpose building that was lightweight, easily shipped and easily assembled. The arch-style buildings were used as barracks, latrines, offices, medical facilities and even bakeries.

Over time, the uses for the Quonset Hut have grown. They are still frequently used by the military in a variety of ways. The building’s unobstructed interior space allows you to store Humvees, tanks or other valuable equipment. This preserves and protects your valuable investments by keeping them properly stored.

Additional uses include:

  • Troop barracks
  • Equipment storage sheds
  • Warehousing and supply storage
  • Garages for military vehicles of all sizes
  • Workshops
  • Educational and training buildings
  • Parking structures
  • Portable shelters

Our steel buildings have earned the favor of every military branch. We are GSA certified, which allows federal agencies to purchase from us in a streamlined manner.

There are many advantages to owning SteelMaster military buildings, including:

  • Longevity and durability
  • Withstands bumps and bangs common to a working structure
  • Protects buildings in highly corrosive environments with Galvalume Plus coating
  • Requires minimal maintenance
  • Does not require painting or treating

SteelMaster Buildings offers quick delivery so you can start your project on time. Once your building is delivered, it’s ready to be put together. Assembling a SteelMaster building is simple and fast compared to most traditional building construction methods. There’s no need for skilled labor or special equipment to put together one of our buildings. Our prefabricated arches are pre-punched and pre-drilled at our fabrication facility and only require the use of one size nut and bolt. There’s usually no need to hire outside construction companies or contractors to assemble our metal buildings–most of our buildings can be assembled with a small crew.

Our metal buildings come in a variety of sizes, with widths up to 150’ and lengths as long as needed. If you need to expand your building, simply add extra steel panels on the existing structure. The buildings are also portable and can be easily unbolted, dismantled, moved to a new location and reinstalled.
