Custom Steel Building is a Sure Fire

For the past 67 years, members have utilized the same structure as an indoor shooting range and clubhouse. Since the early 1990’s, the building has shown signs of wear and tear, and it was getting more and more challenging to maintain.

As far as the club’s members were concerned, replacing the existing structure with a steel building was the sure shot to success. “The steel arch idea came about due to other customers who had used [SteelMaster’s] products and liked what they received,” says Jay Baack, president of the club. “We wanted to maximize floor space, and the steel arch provided that over a stick-built building.”

SteelMaster Buildings, based in Virginia Beach, VA, represents more than 36 years of premium quality manufacturing, providing steel arch buildings to 40,000 + customers throughout the world, including buildings located in every state in the United States, on six continents, and in more than 40 overseas countries. “Our build-it-yourself buildings, such as the one used by the Hampden Rifle and Pistol Club, are affordable and offer 100 percent usable space with a clear span design that eliminates beams and trusses,” says Michelle Wickum, the company’s marketing director.

“We hired someone to put up the buildings, and the project took them about three weeks,” says Baack. “Then we insulated the building with spray foam, and that took another two weeks. From there we got a large group of volunteer members involved and framed in the rooms within the structure. At this point, things that should be dry are dry—which is a huge improvement over the past. We are happy with the snow shedding ability of the design as well as how it is holding up to date.”

Steel does not rot, warp, shrink, or split, and it is non-combustible. Its inherent strength resists fire, earthquake, and hurricane damage, and steel components weigh up to 60 percent less than wood members.

SteelMaster’s pre-fabricated metal buildings are designed for a broad range of residential, commercial, and government/military applications including garages, workshops, carports, agricultural storage, metal barns, Quonset HutTM buildings, airplane hangars, RV storage, roofing systems, storage buildings, military buildings, government buildings (GSA), commercial warehousing, metal sheds, industrial storage, and are also commonly used for private, personal, government, and military housing and shelters.
