Arizona Mom of Three Builds Family Business

Super woman—that’s an appropriate way to describe an amazing mother of three who needed to save time and money and took matters into her own hands.

Chantelle Taylor and her husband had a dream of owning a wood business, but they needed a wood working shop to make it a reality.

Despite their eagerness to get started right away, this couple had a few obstacles on the road to entrepreneurship. They had three small children to care for, Taylor’s husband worked full time, and they were working within a budget.

When they found out about SteelMaster’s DIY Quonset HutTM kits, they were ready to hit the ground running.

“We realized it would be more economical for us to construct it ourselves, so I needed a company that would give us a quick and solid price out the door as well as the plans for how to get it built. We found everything we needed through SteelMaster.”

While continuing her duties as a wife and mother in addition to building the internal structure of the family business, Taylor took on much of the physical work required to complete their DIY Quonset Hut.

“I appreciate the fact that SteelMaster sells a product that anybody can build—you don’t have to have a lot of experience to get it done.”

Disabled Man Builds DIY Quonset HutTM in Oregon

Bob Galvan of Oregon may have physical limitations, but that did not stop him from building his own Quonset Hut to store his truck and tractor. He has one arm, but he did not let that limit his dreams.

Bob is a retiree who had a previous building destroyed by heavy snow loads and a severe storm.

This time, he wanted a structure that was tough enough to survive anything, yet one he could put together on his own.

Bob called SteelMaster and purchased a 30’w x 52’l building where he could store his work vehicles as well as his prized 63’
Thunderbird.

The task was a bit daunting for Bob initially. This was his first time taking on such a project, and although he went though a few rough patches, he was able to get through it by calling SteelMaster for help.

“What in the world have I gotten myself into? What if I get this half done and cannot physically do anymore?”

This is what Bob thought at times while he was getting through the learning phase of the building process. He says when he started to feel a little uneasy, he would simply pick up the phone and reach out for help.

Bob had a tougher road to the end than many, but he kept going and got it done.

He learned so much and was so proud of his accomplishments, he even came up with a few tips to help others who are building their own DIY Quonset Huts.

1. You don’t have to do it all by yourself.
2. Have a sense of humor. It helps!
3. Have fun!
4. Especially in the summer months, take breaks often and drink plenty of water.
5. Allow and enjoy the help of friends. It is good to let others give sometimes, too.
6. Read the instructions

If you can buy it, you can build it. Creating your own DIY Quonset Hut is simple. All of our Quonset HutTM kits come with custom steel panels, nuts and bolts, and the instructions you need to put it together on your own.

Not only do you get to save money and time, you also get to experience the joy that comes after a job well done.
