Shipyard & Marine Industry Buildings: Prefab, Portable & Durable
Shipyards around the world trust SteelMaster’s durable and versatile buildings to fit their needs. Our experienced project managers have the expertise to design custom buildings for your specific space and size requirements. We also offer quick delivery for urgent requirements so you can start your project on time.
One of the greatest advantages of purchasing a SteelMaster building is its durability. Our buildings are built to last for decades using a minimum thickness of 22-gauge steel and a maximum thickness of 12-gauge steel. The heavy grade steel provides an incredibly strong building that can withstand the bumps and bangs common to a working structure.
Most of our prefabricated building kits can be quickly constructed with just a small crew and minimal effort. There’s typically no need to hire outside construction companies or contractors. Every steel panel is pre-cut and pre-drilled at the factory to make your building easier to assemble. We also provide the necessary hardware that helps to secure the panels together to form the complete building envelope. It’s the perfect solution for those in the marine industry that need their buildings assembled as soon as possible.
SteelMaster buildings offer a benefit that traditional wood or fabric buildings don’t—portability. If you complete one of your projects or just need to move your building, you can simply take the building apart and reassemble it in another location. Be sure to tell our project managers if portability is an important feature for you so they can review the details of your building and offer insights and tips.
SteelMaster metal shipyard buildings can be designed to be lifted by crane by adding structural steel. Oceaneering, a company that provides full-service ship repair capabilities for the U.S. Navy, moved their metal building from the dock to ships for repair work.
SteelMaster’s metal Quonset Huts are noted for their longevity in harsh coastal environments due to our Galvalume Plus coated panels. This makes our buildings a great option for areas near water because the coating protects buildings in highly corrosive environments. Because of this coating, minimal maintenance is required and the building does not require painting or treating. Customers also have the option to upgrade to salt-resistant nuts and bolts.
Colonna’s Shipyard, a full service ship repair facility in Virginia, uses SteelMaster Quonset Huts to store their work equipment. One of the greatest benefits of choosing SteelMaster metal Quonset Hut is the clear span design. Unlike traditional buildings, our shipyard steel buildings are self supporting and do not require the use of beams and trusses. This allows the owner to use 100 percent of the space on the inside of the building leaving plenty of room for large trucks, machinery, products and other large tools. When you decide to store expensive equipment and tools inside of SteelMaster building, your investments are protected from the severe weather and thieves.
