Meet the SteelMaster Team: Mike Harmon

Mike Harmon has been a National Sales Manager at SteelMaster buildings for five years. He has sold many types of buildings ranging from homes, garages, workshops and more!

Mike specializes in assisting customers in areas that are prone to heavy snow and wind loads.

Mike said, “Alaska snow loads can range from 20 to 300+ psf, so I like being able to give the customer reassurance that we are taking care of their needs. I’m able to give them peace of mind that their building will be able to withstand through the elements of the area.”

In addition to assisting customers with their projects, Mike says the company culture is one of his favorite aspects of his career.

“It’s a family environment here. You’re not a number, your input matters.”

SteelMaster customer contacted SteelMaster looking for a garage.

He chose a Q-Model with a custom glass sliding door that allows plenty of natural light.

“Just like every SteelMaster building, it is coated with Galvalume Plus, which has reflective properties. This allows the sun to reflect off the exterior of the building, which makes the interior about 15 degrees cooler than the exterior,” Mike explains.

SteelMaster is the only company in the industry that offers a 40-year warranty for every building, giving our customers peace of mind.

Kurt contacted SteelMaster looking for a carport to protect his personal vehicles from the elements in Colorado.

Mike assisted him from beginning to end, even when Kurt was presented with a challenge with obtaining permits from his city.

“We were presented with some challenges with his building department, but we were able to work through it and come up with a resolution.”

Mike designed a carport with an increased gauge of steel; not only making it more durable but adhering to his building department permitting requirements.

Additionally, because of the coating of the steel, the building can be painted easily.

Kurt painted his carport to match his house and says he is extremely happy with the result!

Daniel F. – Naples, FL

S-Model, 40’W, X 19’H X 80’L

At SteelMaster, we love to see all the fascinating ways our customers utilize their buildings. That’s why when customer Daniel contacted us for a batting dome, Mike was happy to assist.

The dome needed to be long enough to pitch and hit, so Mike designed a building 80 feet in length.

Daniel and his wife were looking for a building that would withstand heavy wind loads to meet the codes in Florida and be versatile enough to renovate when their kids are grown.

Now, their kids can practice in a safe place and are protected from the blinding sun, extreme heat, and heavy rain.

Tony L. – Yakutat, AK

X-Model, 22’W X 17’H X 32’L

When researching the most cost-effective buildings that would adhere to his snow load, Tony found SteelMaster.

The snow load in his area is 170 feet, which is why he chose a SteelMaster building to protect his investments. Tony stores his boat, Tacoma truck, and ATV in his SteelMaster building.

Upon delivery, Tony was able to erect the arches quickly and easily.

Mike said, “Our building was the most cost-effective option. The X-model is a perfect model for his area, because of the shape we don’t need to be in a higher gauge of steel. And because it is lighter it is cheaper to ship.”

Melissa B. – Paradise, CA

Q-Model, 25’W X 13’H X 30’L

When wildfires tore through Paradise, CA, SteelMaster customer Melissa knew she wanted a home that is more durable than the traditional building.

She found SteelMaster and was instantly put at ease. Mike assisted her with finding the perfect building that would fit her needs.

Both Melissa’s home and garage are made with all steel components.

Mike explains, “The front and back wall are fire rated components that serve the same function as the rest of the building. So, unlike a traditional building that uses wood components, this is all steel and rock and it limits how much combustible materials are on the building.”

This provided Melissa with peace of mind that her family and investments would be safe inside her SteelMaster home.
