The Air Zoo located in Kalamazoo, MI features a SteelMaster used as the WWII themed movie house.  The guests call the Missions Theatre “the best seat in the house”.  This theatre is the first 4-dimensional 180 degree theatre that drops you in the middle of a World War II mission.

Located on the Air Zoo’s main campus, the Missions Theatre – Salute to Heros is one of the highlight attractions at the museum.  The Salute to Heroes experience puts you in the middle of a World War II bombing mission over Nazi Germany.  You join the crew of the B-17 “Kalamazoo Gal” through a mission and touching story.  Not only do objects pop out of the screen towards you, but your seats also move and you can feel and smell everything that is happening.  The Air Zoo website describes the theatre experience as a place where you “tremble in your seats upon takeoff!”  Patrons are able to “feel the full-on roar of other aircraft zooming by.  It’s an inspiring experience that you won’t soon forget.”

The 4-D theatre was developed through a combination of 3-D computer animation and live actors inside a WWII style Quonset Hut provided by SteelMaster Buildings.  The Air Zoo exhibit won the conveted Museum and Heritage Award for Excellence Overseas!
