Step-by-Step Carport Construction
We have a lot of customers contact us with interest in our revolutionary carport system. The state-of-art design of our do-it-yourself systems gives our customers something that not many other companies can…..a carport that withstands high snow and wind loads while having a pleasing appearance on your property!
I thought it would be good to share with you the construction my family did of the first SteelMaster carport back in 2005. The posting will show you step-by-step the process from setting the posts, to constructing the arches to erecting the carport arch by arch.
The first photo shows you the beginning of constructing the arches. You lay the pieces out on the ground and then bolt the pieces of the arches together.

Post Construction:
The posts were predrilled so we just drilled into the concrete to hold the posts up with anchor bolts. There are base clips included in the kit that are used to secure the posts.

After ensuring the posts are level, it’s time to construct the columns. Simply lay the columns on top of the posts and slide the bolts into the pre-existing holes. There is no drilling required.

After ensuring the columns are level, it’s time to raise the arches. Simply bolt the arches on the ground, lift them up onto the columns were there are pre-existing holes. Again, no drilling is required.

As you are putting the arches in place, finger tighten the bolts. This allows you to set the arches in place and givies you flexibility for lifting and securing the remaining arches.

From here, you continue to lift and set each arch in place and attach it to the preceding arch. The overlap system makes the carport water tight and eliminates the need for caulking.

And that’s it!!!! In a matter of hours, we had our carport constructed and erected.
