SteelMaster Supports Local Homeless Charity
Representatives of SteelMaster’s Leadership Team sponsored and attended the PIN Ministry’s Comedy Night Fundraiser last Friday evening. The annual event helps raise money for PIN’s charitable work which includes providing food, clothing, shelter and free medical care for people that are either homeless or extremely poor.
PIN, which stands for People in Need, starting in June of 2002 when Anne Stamper served 12 sandwiches to 5 homeless people. By the beginning of 2003, PIN was providing food to 60 people every week. The charity continued to grow and by 2009 began a housing program which leases houses from the City of Virginia Beach.
The charitable organization hosts several annual fundraisers throughout the year including a golf tournament, ping pong tournament (Ping Pong for Poverty) and the comedy night. This year’s comedy night featured comedians Beatty Barnes, Richard Calvert and Rob Reibol. WAVY TV’s Kerri Furey hosted the event as Master of Ceremonies.
