Yesterday, I found out that in our environment (central New Mexico) that a quanset building is near impossible to cool, and during the summer it will cook anything inside it.

Is there a way to uniformly apply foam on the outside of the quanset, then spray with a durable vinyl coating like they do at Disney world?

This would provide insulation and a reflective surface outside of the metal. The metal would act as a thermal mass to stabilize indoor temperatures.

Any insights?.

We have a Q model building, not sure who made it. The original size was 50 x 50, it was storm damaged before it could be secured in place. We now have enough pieces for a 50 wide x 30 long. We would like to purchase additional pieces to make the original size. Can you help us?

My question is the sam as Kim's except I am in Montana. Thank you.

•I’m curious about whether or not a quonset hut could support a living roof? Depending on the gauge of the steel I assume they could bear a load between 80 and 100 lbs per square foot? Essentially I’d like to “bury” one with just the ends exposed. Possible? The county in Nevada where I’d like to build has no building codes, only a septic inspection is needed.

We are investigating design alternatives for a school in Jacmel, Haiti (probably similar to Dan Feb 9th questions). Your responded you have an expert in that region...the questions we have pertain to design life, constructability, material options, and foundation needs.
