“My husband and I received your letter yesterday.  We are proud to show off our building. It is our big pride and joy. This building withstood Hurricane Katrina. If it can do that, you all have made a great product. After the storm we called and had some brochures mailed to us. We have had so many people stop and look at our building to see if there were any damages. They are amazed to see that there are none, not even a scratch on our building.  We have given all but three brochures out to various people that live around here in our parish and as far away as two hundred miles.  These people work at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilders, which is two blocks from our home. When you have a great product people want to see for themselves how good it is.  Here are some pictures of our building, it looks just as good as the day we had it erected.  We are the Proud Owners Of A SteelMaster Product!”

“My SteelMaster is a combination workshop and barn.  The building project took me 5 days from start to finish on the construction of the building, not counting the cement slab of installing the garage and access doors.  I heard about SteelMaster when I was searching for steel building on the Internet.  I chose SteelMaster because of the ease of construction.  I wanted a building that I could erect myself with the help of family and friends and because of the warranty.  SteelMaster uses quality materials and says their buildings will last at least 30 years.  During my purchase, I dealt mostly with Dan Howard your company rep and he was excellent to work with.  When I first started I had trouble getting a building permit, nothing to do with SteelMaster buildings, rather a county ordinance problem relating to having a utility building larger than your dwelling.   Mr. Howard went out of his way to give me assistance and I appreciated that very much.  I would definitely recommend SteelMaster to my family and friends.”

“I bought my SteelMaster to build race cars in it.  The project took a total of 3 months.  I heard about SteelMaster from a building already constructed locally.  I chose SteelMaster because of the available website shopping and I like the structural concept.  The sales people were great.  I would recommend SteelMaster because it is a great building for the price.”

    • I am looking for a storage shelter around 20 X 8. I like the quonset hut style with a garage and a door. I am currently located 30 Miles north of San Diego in California (Camp Pendelton, Marine Corps Base).

Once built can these huts be moved?
Do they need a cement floor?

    • Thank you for your post! We have quite a few buildings located in your area of California as well as on the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base. I will have the design specialist that worked on the Camp Pendleton project contact you in regards to your interest in a quonset hut.

    • I am buying a house with a 50 x 25 garage like these. I have two doors that slide open. Can I get a garage door and a regular door added? Or is that something that would have to be done at the factory?

    • Hi, my husband and I own a nice home in Hawaii, well actually we own,but really not yet,we make monthly payments like most. We are planning on selling and leveling our 3 acres of property that we own outright, putting in our sesspool and catchment tank and then we want to erect a steel garage and use it as a smal lbasic home and put small shower/toilet and a sink and stay there til we pay it off then turn it back into a garage and get a bigger house and permit that as our home and use the garage as a garage then.We don’t want to have big house payments anymore, and steel is not only safe and sturdy, but it’s afordable and we can put it up ourselves. So, the real question to you guys is do you carry any like 600-900 sf garages with windows and if so how much are they and how much would it cost to ship something like that to the east side of the big isle where our land is, and how long would it take to get here and do you do payments,or a portion down and some later or all money up front, etc? Oh ya and can you please send us a catalogue? OUr address..RR3 Box 1242 Pahoa HI 96778, thank you and I really hope we can do business together. God bless!

    • I need a shed 14 feet wide X 24 feet long with standard height. All that will go into the shed are my model railroads on 4′ X 8′ foot tables. I would want 2 skylights, wide door (5′ foot at least and windows on three sides. I only need a quote at this time. Could the shed be assembled by one person with a little help from a second person? Thanks

Posted by Steve Moore on November 10th, 2010 at 7:20 am

    • Yes – this project can be done by just two people. We will contact with a quote on the shed you are looking for. PS- We’d love to see photos of your model railroads!

    • So this’ll maybe sound a little odd, but I can’t imagine a new potential use for your product is a bad thing… I’m looking for a cheap component solution for building underground – something that I can toss up, rig steel and dump a bunch of concrete on – allowing that I bypass forms, get a clean steel substructure with domed roofs and can finish as a DIY project. I can already easily see myself using a combination of your smaller to mid-sized buildings and because strength would come from the outside (the steel and concrete) no special engineering is required. My question is whether anyone has ever done this and what you see as any obstacles to be overcome? Thanks!

    • How about answering the individual questions on the blog. A few of these questions that were asked above, were questions that I had also. Some of us aren’t able to hear the conversations between your building specialists and the consumer.

Posted by Jeff on November 10th, 2010 at 3:34 pm

    • Thank you for the blog suggestion. We will certainly try to post more information when we can. At times it is challenging to answer the questions in a general manner as the answers vary based on building size and location. We are especially careful with our comments as to not confuse our customers with our responses.

    • Do these buildings need footings and foundations?

Posted by Lisa on December 18th, 2011 at 11:04 am

    • Yes – you either need a footer around the exterior or a slab to secure the building.
