With less than two weeks left to enter our Fall Photo Contest, pictures of steel buildings are coming in daily. Here’s a recent submission from Sam and Eva R. in Brooklyn, NY…

“We are currently building our Q-Hut home in the Catskill Mountains of New York.  We had bought 6 acres of land about 4 years ago with the intention of building a custom home.  A year and a half was spent designing a modern prefab home, but unfortunately, due to the economic downturn, it had to be cancelled.  It was during this time, that we discovered the beauty of the design of the Q-Hut and decided to move forward with this idea.  We bought the kit for a 40’ wide, 50’ long Q-Hut and had it erected last summer.  It is sitting on a concrete slab, with radiant floor heating, and the work is being done in phases, with the windows nearing completion.  We hope to resume in the Spring and have the structure insulated and the heating system finished.  Because we are “bank free”, this is a pay as you go project, with the intention of it being mortgage free upon completion!”
