A Workshop for the Generations

Posted on September 15th, 2009 by Spike

Ross Tieken created a one-of-a-kind workshop using a SteelMaster roof and salvaged pieces of wood  left from his grandfather’s original building. After three years of labor and help from friends and family, Tieken’s custom shop blended in with the surrounding prairie of Shiner, Texas. He also kept the history of his grandfather’s cement works business alive by using the same 2,500-sq.-ft. footprint.

In addition to the salvaged wood, Tieken purchased rough 10-in. wide planks of cypress that he then shiplapped. The windows were found in scrap piles, and all of the machinery was purchased secondhand. All of this created a very economical workshop that fit right in with the prairie.
