Curve metal roofing has become a part of the look of this Pawling, NY, farm due to its long-term durability and low maintenance aspects. SteelMaster manufactured pre-curved, self-supporting R panels for the 10,000 sq. ft. stable and equipment storage project. The 18-gague Galvalume panels have 7-1/2”- deep corrugations.

Construction began in January 2003 and ended two years later at a cost of $250,000. The general contractor was SteelMaster, Virginia Beach. Jeff Erkenbrock, also of Virginia Beach, was the erector. The designer was Trevor Davis, New York, NY.

Dealerships Feature Metal Roofs

In an effort to create a uniform appearance, all new Hummer dealerships will conform to a standardized prototype design approved by GM architects. The design incorporates a large curved roof covering the showroom portion of the building that is a suitable application for the SteelMaster Roofing System manufacturer by SteelMaster Structural Systems.

The finished product is intended to be a unique, attention-grabbing structure that adds an industrial yet refined appearance to each new dealership showroom. The Crowley Hummer dealership located in West Hartford, CT, is the first new showroom to open.

GM approved the roofing system for several reasons. The heavy-gauge, deeply corrugated, curved steel structural panels match the design of the vehicle. The curved structural panels can economically span the width of the showroom without any interior supports.

Each dealership will be designed and engineered on a case-by-case scenario. The varying design loads encountered in the United States need to be considered for each separate dealership. Additionally, various dealerships may have a few tweaks to the design thus making each showroom unique.
